Many dreams help bring about more awareness about ourselves in one way or the other. They help us see ourselves from a higher perspective.
Dreams with a subjective energy relate to our personal unconscious. What often comes out in subjective dreams is our shadow. The shadow is what Carl Jung referred to as the part of ourselves that we have unconsciously repressed.
Our shadow doesn’t have to contain only negative material, but as a general rule of thumb, most of our shadow contains aspects that we don’t like about ourselves. It comes out spontaneously and unexpectedly. If we ever feel we have done something self-destructive, or hurt someone, our shadow has probably had a finger in the play. We often feel shame and guilt when our shadow has come out.
It can also come out as projected on somebody else. When we don’t like someone, there is always the chance that the is something about that person that you find unacceptable also within yourself!
If you’re on a mission to really understand and see yourself, it can be quite exciting (or maybe less so!) to see who shows up in your dreams, and what they do. It may be worthwhile thinking about how you are behaving like the characters in your dream?
