Spiritual Guidance Dream: Your pain will ease when you are there for others

Last night I had a beautiful insight dream. It was still fresh in my mind as I woke up:

I’m talking to my best friend. With tears in my eyes I share with her how the reason that my relationship with a man I had recently been with was so very hard on me was because I was focusing on my pain. If I had turned my attention to others my experience would not have been so painful.

The sacred teaching of being there for others is a beautiful universal truth that can be found in many ancient religious traditions, as well as modern spiritual schools of thought.

I love spiritual guidance dreams. I’ve been blessed with many incredible messages in my dreams over the years. Sometimes there is a person walking next to me sharing a specific insight, and other times it’s more of a presence of someone there, someone who is sharing a beautiful message with me – something profound for me to consider, and contemplate on.

In this particular dream, I was the one reaching the insight, and also sharing it. I was so sad reflecting upon what I had experienced, but also relieved, because I knew what I had done “wrong”. Although I’m not sure if wrong is a word I like using in this context. To imply we have done something wrong suggests that we should have known better.

The beautiful part of soul growth is that we can’t know better until we do! We can’t punish ourselves for something we did when we didn’t know better. Edgar Cayce used to say, it’s what we do with our lives – once we have the insight – that ultimately matters:

“ In the studies, then, know WHERE ye are going…to find that ye only lived, died and were buried under the cherry tree in Grandmother’s garden does not make thee one whit [a] better neighbor, citizen, mother or father! But to know that ye spoke unkindly and suffered for it, and in the present may correct it by being righteous – THAT is worth while! 5753-2 (Todeschi, 1998, p. 7).

Dreams love to be honored! In honor of my dream, I spent the day being there for people in all possible ways, showering people with smiles, listening to strangers’ stories, and most of all being there for my daughter with all my love, and taking her on a fun adventure after school – and I am feeling very happy tonight!
